Nov 3 - Teamwork

"Two are better than one because they have a good reward for their labor; for if they fall the one will lift up his fellow, but woe to him that is alone when he fallth for he has not another to help him up. Again; if two lie down they have heat, but how can one be warm alone. and if one prevail against him two shall withstand him, and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.” Ecclesiastes 4: 9-12

I’m one of about 1200 employees who work for the Defense Commissary Agency at the headquarters at Fort Lee. In the office where I work there are only three of us. The work is not hard, but what makes it so difficult is we just can’t seem to work together as a team. When people work together as a team sharing their talents, resources and ideas, they can accomplish more than the same number of people working individually.

All throughout the Bible we can read how much people accomplished when they came together as a team. During the Civil Rights Movement people of color came together as a team and accomplished much. During the Super Bowl the New York Giant’s football team came together as a team and accomplished much. During Operation Snack Reach our church came together as a team and much was accomplished. Barack Obama’s Campaign came together as a team and history was made. During Operation Transformation if everyone would come together and work as a team, much can and much will be accomplished.

Prayer Focus: Father, I pray that we come together as a team and accomplish your will here on earth. Help us to be like the Jews as they were rebuilding the wall around Jerusalem; where as some worked, some watched, and some prayed. Give us the spirit of unity so that we can come together as a team and accomplish the work that you have set before us. Even as we team up for Operation Transformation, help us all to be on one accord for we all have an important role to play on your team. Amen.
